It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and laughter, family, and presents are on the menu. But there may also be a heaping helping of stress to go along with it.

The holidays bring a host of responsibilities, including decorations, gift-giving, and, well, hosting loved ones of all varieties. These activities can be joyous and nerve-wracking in equal measure.

Luckily for you, we have some tips to make things go a little smoother - and a little safer.

Try these tips for a less Griswold holiday:

• Lighting Double Team—Don’t hang those lights by your lonesome. Work in pairs to practice safe decorating, like holding a ladder, untangling lights, and passing up equipment.
• Party Prognostication—Check the forecast before you host and prepare for winter weather or other unexpected surprises.
• Cord-less—Check cords and cables for frays and other damage, and make sure they are away from the hungry eyes of babies and cats.
• Electric Envy—So you finally got that super nice laptop or that fabulous camera you don’t know how to use. Awesome! Make sure to check your policy to see if you need extra coverage for your new gadgets.

Soon, you’ll be singing carols in decked halls with scurrying children and overly loud relatives. It really is the best time of the year.
