Health Insurance Benefits
- Why do I need health insurance?
Health care in America is extremely expensive, and health insurance is often one of the only ways that millions of people can afford to go to the doctor. It’s a benefit that you need to be able to live a healthy life, and it’s also required by law. In California, a Minimum Essential Coverage Individual Mandate requires most people, with few exceptions, to get covered or else face a tax penalty.
- What are some of my policy options?
It’s important that your health insurance fits the services you want and need covered. We offer a diversity of plans that include, HMOs, PPOs, EPOs and Affordable Care Act plans.
Policies will meet coverage requirements set by state and federal health care law, and we can search the marketplace for coverage that will remain in-network for the care and providers you choose.
Most health plans come with regular premiums and cost-sharing, like deductibles, copayments and coinsurance. We’ll go over all of these terms with you at the time you enroll in coverage, and we can let you know if you qualify for a Covered California® marketplace premium subsidy.
Most people enroll in or change their health insurance during the annual Open Enrollment period, which lasts from Oct. 15 – Jan. 31 each year (subject to change). However, certain individuals can enroll in coverage if there was a qualifying event, so call Dynamite Insurance at 661-255-0038 and discuss your eligibility for coverage today!
When you pass away you will leave behind a financial estate, in addition to survivors who might or might not be secure without the income and value you provided. Life insurance pays a sum of money after your death that survivors you choose can use to settle expenses you leave behind.
- What sums will my policy pay?
The primary purpose of life insurance is the death benefit. This is the amount of money that you will leave to your survivors. You will name a beneficiary on your policy, who is the person you choose to receive the benefit. This might be a spouse or other relative, or even a close friend or non-profit organization.
Some policies also include cash value components. The policy will build up value over time, and you, the policyholder, might be able to draw against this value for income, or use it to fund your premiums.
- What types of policies are there?
Life insurance comes in many different forms, each of which can help you in different ways.
- Term Life Insurance: These policies are in force for a set number of years as long as you continue to pay your premiums. They pay a death benefit if you pass away while the policy is active. If you don’t, the policy terminates on its expiration date. There are few, if any, additional benefits to these types of policies.
- Whole Life Insurance: Policies are in force to a certain age, as long as you continue to pay your premiums. The policy can pay a death benefit, cash value benefits, and more.
- Universal Life: These are similar to term life policies. However, they typically offer longer coverage periods than term insurance.
- Who can be my beneficiaries?
Your beneficiary can be almost anyone, with a few exceptions. For example, minors cannot be beneficiaries themselves. To leave your death benefit to them, you might want to establish a trust account as the beneficiary. When you die, the money will go into the trust, which will contain rules on how beneficiaries can receive and use that money.
- What will my policy cost?
Policy premiums vary based on the type of plan and the size of the benefits you choose. Your overall health and age are also big risk indicators. We recommend that you buy while you are young, because you are more likely to both qualify for coverage and receive affordable rates.
